Description

The globally inspired, women-run, and home-based cooking school League of Kitchens shares recipes from and profiles of 14 women from across the world, gathered together into one visually stunning cookbook.

In 2014 Lisa Kyung Gross founded the League of Kitchens, an immigrant-led, home-based cooking school comprised of women from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. More than a dozen women—mostly grandmothers, with well-earned wisdom—come together to teach classes from their own homes, passing down their knowledge, skills, recipes, and most importantly, their secrets for how to cook with love. At its heart, the League of Kitchens is a celebration of the contributions of immigrants on our food and society, and, of course, delicious food.

Now, with The League of Kitchens Cookbook you can bring those classes into your home in a stunning cookbook like no other—one that delivers not only the soul-satisfying comfort of home-cooked meals but also imparts the intimate techniques and storytelling of fourteen different instructors, hailing from all over the world. The recipes are simple yet captivating, focusing on nutritious, affordable ingredients that resonate with seasonality and freshness, quintessential to every traditional kitchen across the globe.

Each recipe is a lesson, an opportunity to experience authentic traditions straight from the homes of those who curated them, accompanied by stunning photography capturing the essence of each dish. From Greek Roasted Chicken and Potatoes with Lemon and Oregano to Uzbek Mung Bean Soup with Rice, Fresh Herbs, and Dried Apricots; from Lebanese Salad with Pomegranate Molasses to Indonesian Corn Fritters with Shrimp, every page is a testament to the flavors and traditions that make each dish unique. The League of Kitchens Cookbook doesn't just show you how to cook—it shows you how to bring the world to your plate.
